Chapter 267-22 GOVERNOR'S ENERGY CHALLENGE FOR GREEN COMMUNITIES
Rule 267-22-.01 Purpose
In compliance with the "Fair and Open Grants" Article of the "Budget Accountability and Planning Act of 1993," following is the information on a grant program being implemented July 2009.
Rule 267-22-.02 The Name of the Grant Program
Governor's Energy Challenge for Green Communities.
Rule 267-22-.03 The Citation to Statutory Basis for the Grant Program in the Official Code of Georgia Annotated or Other General Law of the State of Georgia
Funded from U.S. Department of Energy funds.
Rule 267-22-.04 The General Scope and Purpose of the Grant Program
To provide funding for local governments to conduct energy audits of public facilities, implement building efficiency or lighting retrofit projects of public facilities, and take other measures to reduce their energy consumption 15 per cent below 2007 levels.
Rule 267-22-.05 General Terms and Conditions of the Grant
Local governments in Georgia who are certified through the Atlanta Regional Commission's "Green Communities" program or who meet similar third-party certification standards are eligible to apply for funding through this opportunity.
The funds are awarded to each organization based on a competitive application process. There is $60,000.00 available in U.S. Department of Energy funds. Each organization can apply for a maximum of $15,000 in project funding.
Rule 267-22-.06 Eligible Recipients of the Grant
Local governments in Georgia who are certified through the Atlanta Regional Commission's "Green Communities" program or who meet similar third-party certification standards are eligible to apply for funding through this opportunity.
Rule 267-22-.07 The Criteria for the Award of the Grant
Funds will be awarded to local governments competitively based on certification as a "Green Community", or similar third-party certification, involvement in the Governor's Energy Challenge, project narrative, and project budget.
Rule 267-22-.08 Directions and Deadlines for Applying for Such Grant
Funds will be awarded to eligible organizations based on the application submitted to GEFA. The applications are due by July 31, 2009.
